1. How do I know if I’m physically ready?

Labor camps “Big Baikal Trail” for those who like outdoor activities.

2. Who will participate?

Total in the group from 10 to 20 people (depending on the project), team leader and translator. You can meet local residents, residents of other regions of Russia and foreigners. We try to organize intercultural communication for a warm atmosphere.

3. What will I learn?

The type of activity and applicable tool is highly dependent on the project. Most often we work with a shovel, strips, macleud, a hand saw and a pickaxe.

4. Do I need any special skills?

No, we will teach everything. The team leader is responsible for training the volunteers. However, we are open to new knowledge and will gladly accept a participant with rich and interesting experience on the project.

5. Do I need to know foreign languages?

The official languages for BBT projects are Russian and English. You will get more pleasure from participating if you use one of them. In addition, knowledge of the language is necessary for personal safety on the trail.

6. And if there are health problems, can I participate in the project?

Projects vary greatly in degree of difficulty for participants. There are locations where you need to go with a large backpack: carry provisions, tents and sledgehammers. We recommend to refrain from such projects. But, there are other projects: next to the transport infrastructure, and volunteers spend the night in houses, not in tents. Write to us and we will find the best option for you.

7. Can you provide special meals on the project?

Yes, most menu requests are satisfied. Please notify us in advance of your preferences before arriving at the project.

8. What is the age threshold for participation in the project?

Volunteers from 18 to 60 years old participate in the projects.

9. How do volunteers get to the venue?

Volunteers get to the gathering place (the city of Irkutsk, Ulan-Ude) independently. But we can advise. So write to us.

Accommodation at the hotel before and after the project is paid by the volunteer.

On the day of departure from the collection point, the whole group gets on the bus and goes to the project location.

10. Where will we live on the project?

Mostly in tents. Each tent has 2 to 4 people. Tents are provided by the organizer. You only need to bring a sleeping bag and rug.

11. What am I paying for?

For Russians: each participant pays a fee, which includes travel to the project venue and back, meals for the project, a cultural program for the weekend (bathhouse, museum, etc. – depending on the project) and administrative expenses. Foreigners pay for the services of the migration service and related fees.
